Will County has opened the application for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to support water, sewer, or broadband infrastructure projects. The County has dedicated $16 million for municipalities, townships, school districts, and both public and private water/special purpose districts.
“These funds are a significant boost to local infrastructure projects,” said Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant. “Investing in water, sewer, and broadband remains a top priority for local governments and special purpose districts. I encourage local leaders to apply for this grant opportunity.”
Grant funding will support a wide array of water and sewer infrastructure improvements, including construction or repair of water systems, conservation efforts, green infrastructure, efforts to address contaminated drinking water, lead remediation, or stormwater improvements. Funded programs should primarily benefit Will County residents.
Infrastructure projects funded through this program should primarily benefit residents of Will County. The funding request is capped at $500,000, but the total project cost may be in excess if the project has secured funds and does not incur debt.
Will County has been allocated $134.1 million in ARPA funding as part of the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds. To guide the allocation, the Will County Board’s Executive Committee has separated the allocation into the “pillars” of Health, Infrastructure, Economic Development, Local Government Unmet Needs, and Revenue Replacement. The Infrastructure Pillar is the last open application period for County ARPA funding.
