Wine of the Week-Ceretto Vignaioli di Santo Stefano Moscato d’Asti-$24.99

Published on

Moscato d’Asti Muscat is one of the most ancient, most cultivated, and best known of all of the noble grapes in the world. It is also the oldest. Known for its brilliant straw yellow color and sweet taste of ripe melons, oranges and pears and floral aromas, it’s the perfect wine to have with a Holiday feast. It goes great with Turkey, Ham, or Roasted Chicken and its sweet enough to carry right on through a dessert of Apple or Sweet Potato Pie.

“I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano Moscato D’Asti DOCG” is also a wine to start the meal with or to create a cocktail with fresh fruit juice and a garnish of lemon peel or orange slice or a Maraschino cherry.

This is a terrific wine that is guaranteed to please. It satisfies the taste buds of those who like wines that are a little on the sweet side. It also has enough complexity and full-bodied fruit flavor that makes it a nice change of pace for the most sophisticated palate. With its added touch of hints of roasted hazelnuts on the finish, it’s like taking a trip through Italy’s famed Piedmont region. If you don’t believe me, try them with a handful of nuts at the start of the meal or some Ferrero Rocher Chocolates after dinner for an out-of-body experience.
