Wine of the Week: Volpolo 2021 Bolgheri DOC-$36

Published on

This Bolgheri DOC has been given the original name of the native Italian grape variety, Volpolo. It is a tribute to its lush, flavorful style.

A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 15% Petit Verdot, this is a wine that literally bursts with aromas of fresh cut flowers and mouthwatering tastes of dark red cherries and juicy pomegranate. There’s just a hint of cedar from long oak aging that makes it perfect company for a slab of smoky ribs or a sizzling Cowboy Rib Eye right off the grill.

Try some Oysters on the Half Shell smoked on the grill with a dash of Louisiana Garlic Hot Sauce or Stubb’s Original BBQ Sauce or your favorite Hot Links, Polish or Brats. Burgers, of course, are always welcome partners.

Podera Sapaio is an Organic Certified winery that specializes in the production of two Super Tuscan labels, Sapaio, a Tuscan IGT and Volpolo, a Bolgheri DOC. The wines are crafted with the strategic collaboration of legendary Italian winemaker Carlo Ferrini.

Podere Sapaio’s logo is the crown, a symbol of nobility. Designer Aldo Segat created the winery’s logo. Its simple but elegant lines were inspired by the work of famed African American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.

The Italian winemaking region of Bolgheri is located on the Tuscan coast. Its vineyards are literally kissed by the sea.

Founded in 1999 by Venetian engineer Massimo Piccin, Podere Sapaio utilizes innovation in a sustainable approach that displays a reverence for the land. These fundamental principles are the guiding tenets of their winemaking philosophy. Careful use of modern technology combines with a respect for tradition.

Podere Sapaio Volpolo is a tribute to the nobility of wine and the traditions of Tuscan craftsmanship in the cellar. Invite a Celebrity Guest to your Memorial Day weekend backyard feast and lift a glass of Volpolo Bolgheri 2021.  Alla nostra! Drink Responsibly.
