Eddie Murphy Returns as Axel Foley in “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” Premiering on Netflix July 3

Detective Axel Foley is back in action in “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” premiering on Netflix on July 3. Eddie Murphy reprises his iconic role as Axel Foley, who returns to Beverly Hills after his daughter Jane (Taylour Paige) is threatened. This highly anticipated sequel marks the fourth installment in the beloved franchise, with Murphy seamlessly slipping back into the character as if no time has passed.

Directed by Mark Molloy, “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” promises to deliver the humor, action, and nostalgia that fans have been eagerly awaiting. Molloy, a self-professed fan of the original series, admits to being intimidated by directing Murphy. However, he quickly learned that the key to success was allowing Murphy the freedom to improvise. “You’ve got one of the greatest comedians, if not in my eyes, the greatest comedian in the world. “A huge part of my job is to create a space for improvisation to thrive. I always want to get what’s on the page, but when you have someone like Eddie Murphy, you want to let him be free.”

Joining Murphy in this new adventure are series veterans Judge Reinhold and John Ashton, reprising their roles as Billy Rosewood and John Taggart, respectively. Additionally, Joseph Gordon-Levitt joins the cast as Axel’s new partner, adding a fresh dynamic to the team. Together, they work to uncover a conspiracy that threatens Jane’s life, turning up the heat on their pursuit of justice.

“Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” has been long-awaited by fans, with the franchise stuck in “development hell” for years. Paramount’s sale of the franchise rights to Netflix in 2019 finally paved the way for this new installment. The film promises to recapture the essence of the original movies, while also bringing new energy and excitement to the series.

As Axel Foley and his team navigate the glitz and glamor of Beverly Hills, audiences can expect plenty of laughs, thrilling action sequences, and the unmistakable charm that made the original films so beloved. This July 4th weekend, fans can look forward to a nostalgic yet fresh adventure with “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” streaming exclusively on Netflix.
