Joliet’s Downtown District Revitalized with 90S-Themed Ladies Night Out

Published on

Joliet’s historic downtown district will be transformed into a “90s Themed Ladies Night Out” on Saturday, June 29. With activities and entertainment scheduled throughout the day, the event will promote businesses and restaurants that have been affected by the heavy construction to revitalize downtown that is now underway.

“We expect this to be a heavy construction zone for the next two years,” said Priscilla Cordero, Executive Director of CCP, and the Joliet City Center Partnership, which is hosting the event.  “We plan to continue fun activities and events as a positive step toward re-creating a vibrant downtown.

“We need everybody to come downtown to eat, shop and show support of our local businesses,” she emphasized.

90’s-day events include live entertainment, including a band at Chicago Street Pub, 75 N. Chicago. Sales on specialty items at Prison City Vintage on 72 N. Chicago, 90s karaoke at C&C Visions Gallery, 179 N. Chicago Street, wine tasting and more.

90s events will also feature a first-ever evening Chicago Street Farmers Market from 4pm-9pm. Located at 100 W. Jefferson, it will have vendors selling fruits, vegetables, candles, olive oils and more.

In addition, ongoing activities include the Joliet Summer Challenge, which takes participants to all the fun locations in the city like the Old Joliet Prison, the Illinois Rock & Roll Museum, the Joliet Slammers, Bishop Hill Winery, Rialto Square Theatre and The Strange & Unusual Gallery.

Participants also have chances for a $50 gift certificate at a local restaurant. For more, visit, JolietSummerChallenge.com.
