Millions given in tax credits for affordable housing

Veteran dependents scholarship assistance now law

The scholarships cover tuition for post-secondary education programs at state universities and public community colleges. It will also cover the cost of schooling equal to four years, including summer semesters, and could be used for application fees, placement and proficiency testing fees, term fees, and graduation fees.

New law ends standardized tests for younger kids

“Standardized testing has become a hallmark of our education system,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “Studies show that there are better ways than a high-stakes test to measure children’s learning, and that is through their play and interaction.”

“This new law will guarantee when tragedy strikes, employees have the ability to use their earned time to care for an ill family member,” Hastings said. “It is unfair to force hardworking people to be forced to make a choice between caring for a sick loved one and keeping their job.”

Manley urges Gov. to sign proposal to help workers

Under House Bill 1571, IDHS would be scheduled to conduct and return a study on a possible childcare program to the General Assembly by Jan. 2023, after which a program would be implemented in July 2023. The measure recognizes that finding childcare is a burden on third shift workers because most childcare centers in Illinois are only open during normal work hours.

Health care fraud seminar

"The health care system can be confusing and difficult to navigate, leaving many people vulnerable to fraud," said Walsh. "I invite senior citizens to join us for this educational program to learn how to protect yourself from health care fraud and how to manage the situation if health care fraud occurs."
