Holder White, 54, also a Republican, will be sworn in on July 8, which will roughly coincide with the swearing in of Ketanji Brown Jackson as the first Black woman on the U.S. Supreme Court. White’s term will expire Dec. 2, 2024, after a full-time replacement is chosen in the November 2024 elections.

The Co-Responder Pilot Program authorizes police officers to bring social workers and mental health professionals on calls to assess if the person is experiencing a mental health crisis. Law enforcement and social workers can then decide if a mental health facility or other supports could address their needs and behaviors. Governor Pritzker's FY23 budget allocated $10 million dollars to fund this pilot.

Laws such as Illinois' Reproductive Health Act, which my office supported, are more important than ever in ensuring that regardless of the Supreme Court's final decision, Illinois women will remain free to make highly personal reproductive health decisions in consultation with their medical providers.

Mortgage loan modification scams are schemes to take your money – often by making a false promise of saving you from foreclosure. These so-called foreclosure or mortgage consultants often use public notices or lists of distressed borrowers purchased from private companies to find their targets. They may offer to "prevent" foreclosures or "rescue" desperate homeowners from foreclosure through advertising, email, phone calls or in person.

Studies have shown libraries are the most trusted institutions in our country and Moore said he embraces the opportunity to be an advocate for reimaging the neighborhood library and connecting communities to each other.

According to a report by the Brookings Institution, a national pre-filled tax return program could save taxpayers $2 billion in fees and 225 million hours of time each year.

“Affordable water will become more of an issue as the regional water commission builds a pipeline to Lake Michigan water,” Connor said. “Representative Walsh and I continue to work on making it easier to receive grants for clean water in our area.”

State Senator Michael E. Hastings is sponsoring the plan to wipe out the state sales tax on clothing, shoes, and school supplies for 10 days in August to give consumers an economic boost as they go back-to-school shopping. As proposed, the sales tax would be lifted from Aug. 5 to Aug. 14.
