Coco Gauff slams racket on the way to frustrating US Open quarterfinal loss to France’s Caroline Garcia

Coco Gauff slammed her racket into the court at the end of a frustrating first set against France’s Carolne Garcia in US Open quarterfinal play at Flushing Meadows. The 18 year-old, who had hopes of being the standard-bearer for American women and African American women at this year’s US Open after the unceremonious ouster of retiring tennis Queen Serena Williams, suffered a humiliating loss to the 17th seed, 28 year-old in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4 at Arthur Ashe.

Garcia will face Ons Jabeur in tomorrow’s semi-final action in Prime Time, 5pmCT on ESPN. The Tunisian became the first African woman and the first Arab woman to ever reach a Major semi-final.
