CoCo Gauff wipes out Madison Keys in straight sets in just over an hour

A determined Coco Gauff trounced former US Open finalist Madison Keys in an all-American contest to win in straight sets in just over an hour 6-2,6-3 at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The 12th=seed Gauff will take on China’s Shuai Zhang on Sunday Sept 4. At age 18, Gauff is the youngest American woman to reach the Round of 16 at all four majors since Venus Williams in 1998.

Gauff is favored to win this year’s US Open and her play against the No. 20 Keys proved why. Keys made 21 unforced errors in the match. The French Open finalist nearly missed her alarm to arrive for the match on time. “I thought to myself ‘am I cursed?!’

Gauff will face China’s Zhang following the match between Ons Jabur and Veronika Kudermetova on Sunday on ESPN.
