Will County’s On-The-Job Training Program Supports Job Creation and Community Growth

Discover how Will County’s On-the-Job Training Program is boosting job creation and community growth, and empowering economic development.

On-The-Job Training (also known as OJT) is a program that provides reimbursements to Will County employers looking to improve productivity, increase market competitiveness, and expand job opportunities to Will County residents and communities.

  • Occupations must be in a targeted industry, including Healthcare, Manufacturing, IT, Finance/Professional Services, and Transportation/Distribution/Logistics.
  • The grant provides reimbursement up to 50%* of the wage rate of the participant.The new hire must be a full-time employee and receive a minimum pay rate of $14.91/hour.
  • A business may enter into a maximum of five (5) OJTs per program year, and each OJT may not exceed $10,000.

We provide reimbursement to the employer of up to 50%* of the wage rate of the participant for the extraordinary costs of providing training and additional supervision related to the training. For employers looking to hire individuals with barriers, a 75% reimbursement rate will be considered.

Borowski Race Engines located in Rockdale, IL has hired Andrew S. of Joliet. Andrew is in training to become a Machinist and will drive their Freight Liner Trailers. When Andrew finishes his training period, the employer will receive reimbursement for a portion of his training wages, and Andrew will continue as an employee.

An additional 3 candidates will begin their On-The-Job training at the company by the end of May.
