Named a “Top Charity Wine Event” by Wine Spectator, the auction is presented every three years by the Women’s Board. More than 400 wine enthusiasts from around the country came to Chicago to appreciate an incredible selection of fine wines and enjoy gourmet cuisine in the stunning confines of the Lyric Opera House.
Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant is partnering with the Community Nutrition Network and Senior Services Association, Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, and Community Lifeline Ministries to host the event.
“We associate summer with burgers, watermelon, and corn on the cob. Sadly, for many children and families in our area, the end of school means hungry months ahead,” says Suzanne Armato, CEO of the Pantry in Woodridge, Illinois. “We are committed to coming alongside these families with the food and encouragement they need to thrive. But given the additional need and the rising cost of food, the challenge is greater.”
“This event is open to anyone in need of fresh food,” said County Executive Bertino-Tarrant. “I am extremely thankful to the volunteers at Sharefest Will County who are working to provide nutritional food options to our families at no cost.”
The wines are bursting with lively fresh fruit flavors, while being rounded and well balanced. Grilled lighter meats or fish like whole salmon or branzino stuffed with herbs and slow cooked over hot mesquite, fresh oysters or sushi, shrimp scampi or lobster poached in butter are great for a light summer meal.
