Illinois State Police make arrest for possession of child pornography

Following an extensive investigation, ISP Investigators executed a search warrant in the 1300 block of Copperfield Avenue in Joliet, IL. Files containing child pornography were located on an electronic device belonging to Kelly.

Fremarek, former supervisor pleads guilty for embezzlement

Anthony Fremarek, 49, was accused of taking more than $1.3 million over six years from a technology consulting company in Schaumburg to fund personnel expenses, including payments on his credit cards without authorization. According to the charges, Fremarek allegedly made false entries in the company's accounting system over a six-year period by making it appear payments went to legitimate vendors.

Blaique Morgan found guilty of first-degree murder in 2016 death of next-door neighbor

On January 7, 2016, the Will County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call by Bielec's roommate stating that Bielec was severely injured and lying in their driveway. Officers spoke with Blaique Morgan who stated that he and his brother, Amari Morgan, went to Bielec's residence to confront him about an ongoing dispute. An argument ensued, and Bielec was fatally struck in the head with a bat.

The search warrants were executed at residences in the 600 block of Norton Avenue and the 700 block of Francis Street.

Bank Robbery

A preliminary investigation determined that a male suspect entered the bank and passed the teller a note announcing a robbery. The suspect then fled the area after taking an undetermined amount of cash.

Advocates oppose SAFE-T Act changes proposed by Democratic senator

In the SAFE-T Act as it stands, judges will consider each individual’s circumstances and can deny pretrial release if the offender is accused of certain offenses and is deemed a danger to the community, or if the person is a risk of “willful flight” from prosecution. All individuals are also detainable, regardless of the offense, if they commit a crime while already out on pretrial release.

Joliet council passes a meaningless SAFE–T-Act resolution

"The City of Joliet encourages legislators to work with public safety representatives and all community stakeholders to fix remaining problems with the SAFE-T Act, including, but not limited to, unreasonably limiting the imposition of cash bail (and) unreasonably limiting police officer discretion to make arrests," the resolution continues.

Bomb threat at Joliet’s Hollywood Casino

A bomb detection K9 from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office as well as bomb detection Officers from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and assisted Officers and personnel from the Joliet Fire Department with a search of the premises.
