Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White is leading a Dream Team of notable public figures who have succeeded against the odds and will share their inspiring stories with students across the state of Illinois. This new mobile mentoring program is called Tied With Love, and it was created by Helping Hands Family Outreach, Inc.
Helping Hands Family Outreach, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to creating educational programs to support the children of fallen officers, military service persons, veterans, first responders, and at-risk youth. The Tied With Love mobile mentoring program plans to mentor students across Illinois’ 102 counties.
The purpose of Tied With Love is to teach students how to develop coping skills to: survive adversity at an early age, succeed against the odds, and learn the useful life skill of tying a necktie. The students will also learn about and experience one-on-one mentoring, distance mentoring, and group mentoring in break-out sessions. The program will end with a performance by the world-famous Jesse White Tumblers.
Secretary White said he will teach the students about character building during his speech. “Do something good for someone every day,” he said. “Come to school on time and be prepared to learn.”
