The Well Versed Comedy, Gifts for Glory Ministries, Thrive Church, and the ROXY Event Venue brought two comedy shows in 2021 to benefit Royal Family Kids Camp (RFK) in Lockport, Ill., and were able to raise over $1600 to give towards the camps for children in the foster care system. This spring, the third show on April 29, benefitting RFK is going to be bigger with the addition of featured comedian Tracy DeGraaf, who will perform as well as Well Versed Comedy, according to organizers.
The event is organized by Dave Ebert, co-children’s pastor with his wife Bobbie at Thrive Church in Lockport. Both Ebert’s will be serving at the summer’s camp as well. The camp is for boys and girls in the foster care system to have a week of love, support, and encouragement.
“
Tracy DeGraaf is an author, speaker, and extremely funny lady,” said Dave Ebert. “She’s built a strong following in the Chicagoland area, and we’re really excited to have Tracy a part of this special night. She alone is worth the price of admission!”
The Ebert’s are organizing the third camp in less than two years, the first camp opened over Pulaski Day Weekend in 2020, and the first full-week camp happened July 2021. The third camp is scheduled for late July 2022. However, according to Dave Ebert, this year’s camp needs more support than previous years. Along with ticket sales, organizers are hoping area businesses will consider sponsoring the event to ensure all proceeds will go to support the camp.
“Running camps for up to 12 foster children from around the state can be expensive, and with many of the needed items being impacted by supply chain issues and inflation, the 2022 Camp will need more support than ever,” said Ebert, who will serve as a counselor for his third consecutive camp.”
