Governor JB Pritzker and Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton filed over 6,000 petitions with signatures from voters in all 102 counties across the state to formally secure their spot on the ballot on Monday. Governor Pritzker and Lt. Governor Stratton celebrated the broad coalition of support they’ve built with House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch, Illinois AFL-CIO President Tim Drea, and supporters from every corner of Illinois.
“When I ran for office back in 2018, I promised to be a governor for all of Illinois––that’s why today I am so proud to submit our petitions with signatures from all 102 counties across our state,” Governor Pritzker said. “Dropping off petitions with signatures from all 102 counties in Illinois offers further proof that Illinoisans are excited about the direction we’re moving in,” Lt. Governor Stratton said.
“We are all filing this week so that we can continue to do the work of the people,” House Speaker Emanuel ‘Chris’ Welch said. “Our governor and Democrats in the House and Senate have accomplished so much for this great state, including ethics reform, hiring a legislative inspector general, and turning billions in debt into a surplus for Illinois families. Together, we have a plan for safer neighborhoods, economic relief, tax relief, education, and health care. I am excited about the work we’ll continue to do to shape a brighter future for Illinois.”
