Project Acclaim has selected The Art Movement, Inc. to receive the Second Quarter of 2022 Reverend James E. Allen Award for Service to the Community.  The Art Movement, INC. (TAM) is a diverse collective of artists and art supporters who collaborate as agents of change to promote art and artists in the Joliet Area. TAM empowers individuals to share experiences through art, and partners with local businesses, organizations, and charities to raise awareness of artistic endeavors of all kinds.

The Art Movement is a relatively new influencer of Joliet culture. Its mission is to ignite passion and visibility for Joliet area artists through connections with charities, businesses, and the community. After two years of discussions and collaborations, TAM established itself as a 501c3 in 2019. Since then, the organization has made a community-wide impact and has enhanced our community by inspiring the region’s creative potential and supporting the creative growth of artists and art appreciators. Under the leadership of Co-Founders Sue Regis and Eryn Blaser and The Art Movement, Inc. Board of Directors, TAM completed a strategic planning process in 2021 that engaged local artists, musicians, businesses, organizations, and elected officials. Project Acclaim President Jayne Bernhard noted: “TAM’s strategic plan sets forth organizational goals- Ignite, Connect, Promote, Inspire, Support, and Empower- that very much align with the mission of Project Acclaim, which is to promote a positive image of the Joliet area and its people; engage residents and organizations to make their neighborhoods better; and partner with anyone or any organization working toward the same end. We are thrilled to recognize their continued impact on arts and culture in our community!”

TAM has collaborated and worked with others in different artistic endeavors that include the Boys & Girls Club, Bicentennial Park (Dia De Los Muertos & Shakespeare in the Park), New Orleans North, and the Joliet Public Library.

The Art Movement sponsors programs and events throughout the year. Over the summer there’s the “Summer of Stone and Steel,” a sculpture contest. Commissioned pieces will be unveiled at a special public event on July 28, 2022. The pieces will then be displayed at downtown Joliet businesses and at select events throughout the rest of the summer before being raffled off in September. You can learn more about TAM through its website and Facebook page. Be sure to sign up for email reminders of upcoming arts and culture events.

Project Acclaim was founded by the Reverend James E. Allen to promote a positive image of the Joliet area by recognizing organizations and individuals who have made a difference in the community.
