Joliet – To help support seniors and prevent identity theft, state Rep. Larry Walsh, Jr., D-Elwood, is partnering with Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office to host a Lunch and Learn event focused on identity theft scams and prevention tips. The event will take place June 13 at 12 p.m. at the Senior Services of Will County Center located at 251 N. Center St. in Joliet.
Event attendees will learn how to recognize common scams and their many variations, set up fraud alerts, security freezes and opt-outs, and report scams and manage their situation should identity theft occur.
“Identity theft is a serious crime that can devastate an individual’s finances without proper intervention and prevention,” said Walsh. “I invite everyone to join us for this learning opportunity so they can protect themselves from identity theft. Thank you to the Attorney General’s office for their partnership in bringing this important educational programming to our community.”
