The history of San Felice in Tuscany dates to the time of the Etruscans. It was the site of the ancient Baptismal Church, San Felice in Pincis in medieval times. In the early 20th century, one of its owners was among the founders of the Chianti Classico Consortium, the governing body for wine production throughout the territory.
The Allianz Group bought the estate in the 1970s, with the express purpose of producing wines that focused on regional excellence. With vineyards located in prime locations, the winery began an extensive replanting program that maximized the value of its native Sangiovese grapes and launched scientific research projects in collaboration with the Universities of Florence and Pisa that revived many extinct grape varieties.
With a philosophy that embraces sustainable best practices, San Felice is creating wines that give full expression to the depth and breadth of the wines of Tuscany.
