Plainfield Dist 202 SUperintendant Dr. Glenn Wood

By Dr. Glenn Wood Superintendent of Schools

I want to thank our students, employees, and families for how hard you have worked to make the first semester a success.

Our goals this first half of the year were to have a smooth start, celebrate our tradition, and begin planning for the future. We appreciate the confidence that families have placed in our schools and the positive attitude and efforts of our staff to make a welcoming environment for students through the first semester. Students have responded positively to the expectations established by staff and are taking advantage of the opportunities District 202 provides them.

District 202 has a rich history, and our Homecoming Parade, Marching Band Festival, and Veteran’s Day activities are a few of our long-standing traditions. I am extremely proud of the participation, respect, and appreciation shown by our students during these events. Our traditions are great ways to celebrate each other and a reminder that we rely on and are better when we work together. I look forward to more celebrations this Spring.

Recently, the District 202 School Board approved a five-year strategic plan with six goal areas that will be used as a guide for our school system over the next five years. The process began prior to the pandemic and reflected the collective effort of various stakeholders who took the time to engage throughout the process and share their thoughts and hopes for the school system. The plan maps a path forward by which the school district will continue to support our students emotionally, socially, and academically into the future. The plan is intended to be agile, and the Board of Education will continue to set annual goals and priorities each year. More information is available regarding the strategic plan at: https://www.psd202.org/documents/1671563302.pdf

As bad weather season is upon us, families should always plan for school to be open. District officials work with our transportation and local public safety officials to determine road conditions so that we will announce our plans as early as possible. When weather or other emergencies dictate that school cannot be open for students, District 202 may cancel school using an emergency day or use an E-Learning Day to provide our students with a continuation of learning. E-learning days are synchronous. More information is available at https://www.psd202.org/announcements/10255.

Educationally yours, Dr. Glenn Wood
