State Senator-Elect Rachel Ventura is inviting residents to a community watch party to virtually view the swearing-in ceremony of the 103rd General Assembly on Jan. 11 at noon.
With the Illinois Capitol under construction, Senator-Elect Ventura and the rest of the Illinois State Senate will take the oath of office under the rotunda of the Old State Capitol, which served as the meeting location for the state legislature from 1840-1876. The historic capitol building has limited space, so each State Senator is only allowed four guests. Ventura’s guests will include her daughters and parents.
The official swearing-in ceremony will take place in Springfield on Jan 11 at noon. A remote viewing link will be available for residents to view from their homes. Photographs of the Springfield-based swearing-in event will be made available via a follow-up media release.
Senator-Elect Ventura was elected on Nov. 8, 2022. She is the first woman to serve in this seat. Her district office will be located at 221 Springfield Ave., Unit 3 in Joliet starting Jan. 11. For more information email ILDistrict43@gmail.com.
