Gallery Seven, located in the historic Gaylord Building in Lockport, IL, Gallery Seven is presenting an exhibit by Lockport Artist Kathryn Claahsen. A native of Chicago’s south side, Claahsen studied at The School of the Art Institute after graduating from Thomas Aquinas College in California.
Claahsen began swing dancing in 2007 and is a regular at the ROXY with the Lockport Swing Thing. The exhibit entitled “Song of Freedom: An Exploration of Dance through Painting” reflects Claahsen’s passions. She explains, “The scenes I portray are based on my lived experience where dance can create a place for all people to be represented and welcomed.”
The exhibit will continue through February 26th on the third floor of the Gaylord Building
Gallery Seven was established in 2007 and is a Fine Art Gallery located in the Historic Gaylord Building at 200 West 8th St in downtown Lockport, IL. The gallery features work from its seven members and local, national, and international artists. Works on display include Photography, Paintings, Sculpture, Woodworking, Pottery, and Jewelry.
Gallery Seven Hours are Wednesday – Saturday, Noon – 5:00 PM
Sunday, Noon – 3:00 PM. Admission is always free.
