National Women’s History Month is officially March, but the celebrating begins early at Billlie Limacher Bicentennial Park and Theatre! All are invited to enjoy “Women In Action” – the multimedia, indoor theatre presentation at 7:00 pm. One show only! Lobby opens at 6:00 pm. Admission is $5.00. Those that enjoyed last year’s show will be in for a treat with the new presentation, music line-up and special guests, in addition to returning favorite presenters. The park invites everyone to attend, learn and celebrate together!
The official National Women’s History Alliance’s theme for 2024 celebrates “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion,” recognizing women who understand that, for a positive future, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives and institutions. Equity for one is not equity. Our celebration takes this opportunity to acknowledge some women locally who strive daily for this goal. They work continuously to help our local population find their voice and are role models for our community. We also look at national artists who have pioneered in their respective fields for D. E. I, as it is commonly referred. Our performers have chosen their inspiration to present and share at this event.

“True equity is an ideal worth pursuing and music is a wonderful tool to give voice to those who haven’t found theirs yet,” notes the event’s creator, Lori Carmine, who serves many roles: Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park and Theatre Manager, City of Joliet’s Cultural Affairs Manager, City of Joliet’s Event Liaison, and a City of Joliet’s Art Commissioner. Lori’s belief in promoting the arts and equity for all has always been a passion.
Admission is $5.00 for all ages, Tickets are $5.00.
