Slow Wine USA has been at the forefront of efforts to promote wine that is created by farming methods that are sustainable. The Slow Wine Guide USA 2024 is a directory of more than 400 wineries in California, New York, Oregon, and Washington that prioritize land stewardship. Their foundation is built on farming methods that don’t use synthetic herbicides.

Wineries are reviewed for both their wine and their methods of production. A team of experts visits the wineries to assess their farming practices and evaluate their wines.

Each winery review is divided into three sections. First, the people who live and work at the winery are evaluated. Second, the vineyards are evaluated for the way they are farmed. Finally, the wine is tested for quality, taste and methods of production.

Slow Wine Guide USA is an annual publication known to vet wineries for a wide range of ecological criteria. In addition to checking for the use of herbicides like Roundup, it evaluates things like water usage, sustainability in building construction and artificial interventions during the winemaking process.

The Slow Wine Guide is an excellent resource for discovering wines and winegrowers that are committed to the land, the community and the planet. For more information, visit slowfoodusa.org. Drink Responsibly.
