The Joliet Central Culinary Arts program showcased its culinary talents at the annual Men Who Cook event held at the JJC Weitendorf Center in Joliet on Saturday Oct 19. Instructors Tom Langley and Amanda Ashmus joined senior students Diego Zamundio-Hernandez and Daniel Garcia to compete in this prestigious fundraising event.

Men Who Cook raises vital funds for the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center, dedicating 100% of its proceeds to support children who have experienced severe physical abuse, sexual abuse, exploitation, neglect, and exposure to violence. This year’s event brought together a passionate community committed to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children.

The Joliet Central team impressed judges and attendees alike, securing second place in the professional category with Chef Langley’s exquisite recipe for Cinnamon Sugar Soft Pretzel Bites served with Salted Caramel Sauce. Their delicious dish not only highlighted the students’ culinary skills but also showcased the program’s commitment to excellence in culinary education.
