Spanish flavors took center stage at the 30th Anniversary of Spain’s Great Match organized by the Trade Commission of Spain. It was an immersive event that involved master classes a cadre of Master Sommeliers and culinary experts led by global chef phenomenon Jose Andres and the Adria brothers of Mercado Little Spain Hudson Yards NYC and spectacular Spanish wine and food.

Nuria Cleverol Homentage Cava-$33

Named for the Founder’s wife, Nuria Cava is produced from 100% organic grapes by Carlos Sumarroco winery. Xarel-lo grapes are hand-picked and sort before being gently pressed. Juice is then fermented under low temperatures to preserve the rich fruit flavors and aromas. The wine presents with Tony, persistent bubbles that enhance the rich mouth feel and showcase the wine’s intensity and finesse. Bright aromas and flavors of white flowers, white peaches and hunts of Brioche toast and roasted hazelnuts round out this food-friendly Cava. 

4 Cuerda from Bodegas Hydria-$20.65

Aveleda and Loureiro and Alvarinho is a Vinho Verde blend. Aveleda lends the wine it’s floral and citrus aromas and flavors. Alvarinho gives it a smooth, velvety body. This wine is great with Sushi!

Pink Jumilla DOP from Bodegas Silvano Garcia-$9

A pink wine with body that will stand against any wine double the price. Elevate the Holiday experience with this heady blend of fruit flavors and aromas. Complex terroirs give it texture that will rival anything from Provence.

Pazo das Bruxas 2023 Rias Baixas from Torre Penelas-$45

This is the most luxurious of the tasting pool. A perfect seafood wine with zesty notes of lemon, stone fruit flavors like white peaches and baked apricots. Sliced green apples and hints of briny oysters give it a nice twang at the end
