State Senator Rachel Ventura was elected to a second term in the 43rd State Senate District.

Just after her victory, Ventura said, “The 43rd district has sent the message that they want a senator who doesn’t take corporate PAC dollars and who will focus on the economy and environment.”

In her first senatorial term, Ventura voted to end the grocery tax and expand the child tax credit for families in Illinois. Some of the other bills that the Senator passed included expanding the climate bank to local government, protecting tenants from rental transaction fees, and criminal justice reforms. She is also the chief sponsor of the CURE Act, which would legalize plant medicine to help with treatment-resistant conditions.

Ventura also took the time to thank her supporters. She said, “Thank you to all the voters and volunteers who helped with this win. This is the people’s win and I’m honored by their support.”
