There were only a small number of wine producers in Napa Valley’ s Oakville district of California when several of their wines won the Judgement of Paris wine competition in 1976. Within weeks, wines from the region became among the most sought after in the world. Almost overnight, tiny Oakville became one of the most powerful driving forces in the wine industry in the past 100 years.

A select group of Oakville Wine producers returned to New York’s famed Carnegie Hall for their biennial tasting event. Members of the trade and a select gathering of wine aficionados gathered to taste the finest rare varieties of vintage Cabernet blends and a small number of white wine blends, some of which were exclusive to the day’s event. Vintners were on hand to say hello and answer questions from the crowd of eager wine enthusiasts.
