The Beacon Club of Joliet is celebrating 70 years on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 5pm – 10pm with an Awards Banquet to honor its founding members. The banquet will be held at AFSCME Local 1866 Union Hall 265 Republic Avenue, Joliet, Il.

Beacon Club President James Shaw described the banquet as a landmark event for the club. “We first came together on December 17, 1954, with the goal of uniting our Black men together for a common cause to uplift the community. We attracted men from every walk of life, from judges and business owners to union members and civil servants. These were men of good character who shared a common belief that they can make a difference in the communities where they live and work.”

There are a few tickets still available contact the Beacon Club 510 N. Chicago St. Joliet Illinois or call 815-727-4567.
