Personal preparedness for emergencies, disasters, and catastrophic events is a critical aspect of everyday life. To help the community prepare for adverse events, the City of Joliet Office of Emergency & Disaster Management will host a quarterly workshop at Joliet Fire Station 10, located at 1599 John D. Paige Drive.
The two-hour workshops will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and again from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is a free event with no registration required to attend.
Topics covered in January’s workshop include:
• Services provided by the City of Joliet Office of Emergency & Disaster Management
• Understanding the nature of emergencies, disasters, and catastrophic events
• Personal disaster preparedness
• Home safety
• Building an emergency kit (Part 1)
• Winter weather preparedness
John Lukancic, Director of the City of Joliet Office of Emergency & Disaster Management, a certified Associate Emergency Manager, and an Illinois Professional Emergency Manager, will present at the event.
