New Local Grocery Store, Restaurants, and other Retail Planned
In addition to the many projects recently opened, under construction, or already announced, Romeoville begins 2026 with even more new developments in the pipeline. Two separate projects make for one big announcement regarding more businesses coming soon.
The first project is planned for the southwest corner of Weber Road and Creekside Drive and will include a new 12,000 square foot grocery store with an attached 2,500 square foot restaurant. The grocery store, called La Hacienda, will be full-service, open daily from 8 am – 9 pm, and feature an in-house, cut to order butcher program. La Hacienda has five other Chicagoland locations. The restaurant will include a drive-thru component and will bring some excitement to Romeoville with a speakeasy concept. While the restaurant is anticipated to be open every day from 8 am – 10 pm, the speakeasy will operate Thursday – Sunday from 5 pm – 11 pm. Both businesses are part of a larger planned ground-up development that will include two additional 1,300 square foot retail spaces for future tenants.
The second announcement is a new four-tenant retail center to be constructed just north of the current center where Aldi is located. It will have two quick-serve restaurants and two retail spaces. Construction of this new center will commence once all spaces are leased.
“We are in a period of exciting growth in Romeoville,” said Mayor Noak. “Our community is seeing significant investment and new opportunity. We expect to make even more announcements across several sectors in the coming months.”
Other new developments recently announced or currently under construction include the 7 Brew Coffee (7brew.com) opening in the former Freddy’s location, new VASA Fitness (vasafitness.com), at the former Dominic’s site, which is scheduled for a late winter/spring opening. Scooter’s Coffee (scooterscoffee.com) is scheduled to open soon on Rt. 53 near the Romeoville Athletic and Event Center. TownPlace Suites by Marriott (marriott.com) will be open soon just north of I-55 on Weber Rd. A new three-unit center at Weber and Normantown, which will include Crisp & Green (crispandgreen.com) and Hawaiian Bros (hawaiianbros.com) restaurants. Hibbett Sports (hibbett.com) recently opened at the intersection of Airport and Weber Roads, where Rack Room Shoes (rackroomshoes.com) is currently building out space in the same shopping center with a planned opening soon.
Those are just some of the new developments happening in Romeoville. The Village is currently at a historically low retail vacancy rate of under 1.5%. Updates can always be found on the village website at romeoville.org. 2026 is already starting out strong with additional announcements planned over the next few months. The Village of Romeoville has a population of about 41,000 residents.
