The guest speaker for the evening will be Dr. Clyne Naumo, President, Joliet Jr. College; Master of Ceremony will be the Honorable Vincent Cornelius, Circuit Judge of the 12th Judicial Court.

The National Association of Colored People (NAACP) was established in 1909 by a multiracial group of people with the objective of insuring political, educational, social and economic equality of minority people.  This year marks 115 years of the oldest Civil Rights Organization in the nation fighting for equality and social justice.  The organization also recognizes the 60th anniversary of the signing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The NAACP Joliet Branch continues the commitment to fight for justice and equality of all people.

This year the Joliet Branch will award scholarships to deserving students who are pursuing further education in various professional areas.  They will also award Outstanding Image Awards to organizations/individuals recognizing their contributions and the positive impacts they are making in the area of community service in Joliet and Will County. This year’s award recipients are: Including You, History on Wheels (H.O.W.), Jalen Jones, and Warren-Sharpe Community Center.
