As part of the next phase of construction for the downtown Chicago Street Streetscape project, traffic control and safety measures will be changing in two stages that began, Monday, April 14, 2025, for water main work on Clinton Street from Ottawa Street to Scott Street.

Stage 1- Clinton Street will be closed from Ottawa Street to Scott Street for approximately two days as construction moves thru the intersection of Chicago Street. Chicago Street will be closed Monday and Tuesday between Van Buren Street and Clinton Street until the intersection can be re-opened to traffic.

Stage 2- After the Chicago Street intersection is re-opened, traffic control will change to close Clinton Street from Chicago Street to Scott Street for approximately one week. This block will be accessible to local traffic for exit from the Scott Street parking deck, and access to the private parking lot north of Clinton Street only. There will be NO thru traffic allowed.

The existing closure of Chicago Street from Clinton Street to Cass Street must remain closed until ComEd completes their vault reconstructions in this block.

There is no daytime parking on Chicago Street, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., to allow continued construction activities. Use of the City Center parking deck is highly recommended.

Safety fencing or construction barrels define safe pedestrian routes throughout the construction zone. All businesses are open and pedestrian access to all businesses will be maintained during construction.

Additional information will be released as construction phasing progresses.
