As summer approaches, the City of Joliet and the Village of Plainfield are hot with new businesses.
On Tuesday, the Joliet City Council approved liquor license request for Brava Banquet facility at 671-675 Collins St. Mayor Terry D’Arcy, also the city’s liquor commissioner, said this would improve the night life and entertainment options in the northeast side of Joliet, especially along Collins Street.
The multi-tenant commercial building is zoned for general business, which is suitable for a banquet hall, according to city council memo. The location has plenty of adjacent parking spaces to accommodate all events the memo noted.
Over the weekend, Plainfield welcomed the much-anticipated Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant to the Boulevard development near Costco at Route 30 and I-55 on the border of Joliet.
Restaurants in both communities have been eagerly anticipating the opening of the restaurant that also features a wine-tasting room. Menu items include pasta, steaks and seafood.
Plainfield Mayor John Argoudelis on his Facebook post said he was impressed by the restaurant staff’s work ethic. Plus, “Food and wine were fabulous, of course,” he wrote.
Joliet resident John Slobovich said Cooper’s Hawk did not disappoint.
“This place has so much stuff for wine connoisseurs and novices,” he said. “This is a great addition to the Plainfield-Joliet area. I am so glad Cooper’s Hawk chose this location.”
Cooper’s Hawk open its first location in 2005 in Orland Park and now operates 18 other locations in Illinois, including New Lenox on Lincoln Hwy and in Naperville.
