The City of Joliet will return to the Residential Snow Removal Program for the 2025-2026 winter season.  The program is available to residents who are 62 years of age or older and/or those with a physical disability. 
The Senior/Disabled Snow Removal Program is designed to ensure accessibility for eligible residents by providing snow removal from a paved driveway and service sidewalk. This service helps residents safely leave their homes for essential needs such as groceries, medical appointments, or other necessities during the winter months. The program is made possible through Community Development Block Grant funding.
Eligibility and Restrictions
Senior aged 62+ and/or physically disabled
Photo ID and proof of residency within the City of Joliet required at the time of application
Programming limited to single-family homes (one driveway and one sidewalk service per household)
Coverage includes up to five snow removal services per season under the following conditions:
Snow accumulation of 3 inches or more
Contractors will begin clearing once snowfall has ended and have up to 24 hours to complete each property
Services are provided citywide and cannot accommodate individual scheduling requests.

Application period opens October 1, 2025, at 8:00 a.m.
Applications will close once the maximum number of participants is reached, based on available funding.
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received. Participation is limited by the total program budget and cost of service.
