- A new study has revealed that North Dakota had the highest rise in vape users from 2016 to 2022, with an increase of 150%.
- South Dakota had the second-highest surge, with a rise of 131%, and California followed in third, with an increase of 128.1%.
- Illinois had the smallest increase with just 20.9%.
Vaping has become increasingly popular in the past few years, with many people switching from cigarettes to e-cigarettes to satisfy their nicotine habits.
That’s why online vape shop Huff and Puffers decided to investigate which states had the most and least dramatic increases in vape users from 2016 to 2022. While every state saw an increase in vape users during this period, some were much more significant than others.
Data taken from the CDC Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) was analyzed to determine the number of vape users in both 2016 and 2022. Then, the percentage increase in vape users from 2016 to 2022 was calculated to provide the ranking.
Commenting on the findings, Bon Pang, CEO of Huff and Puffers, said,
“As the data shows, vaping in the United States experienced a significant and steady rise across all states. Several factors have likely contributed to this trend, including the perception of vaping as a safer or healthier alternative to smoking. Vapes have also been an effective tool for those hoping to quit smoking, as they include nicotine but don’t have some of the toxic chemicals found in cigarettes, such as tar or tobacco.
“Additionally, the availability of appealing flavors and the marketing by e-cigarette companies has widened their appeal and reach, particularly among teenagers and young adults. Social media and influencer culture further normalized vaping, especially among younger demographics, accelerating its popularity.”
