The Community, local leaders, and partner organizations joined to celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Healing Place that recently opened in downtown Joliet at 81 North Chicago Street, Suite 204, Joliet, IL.    Lorraine “Lorena” Guerrero, LCSW, CADC, PEL, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Senior Trauma Therapist with more than 20 years of experience started the new venture which will serve children, families, and communities impacted by trauma.  Guerrero, a lifelong Joliet resident has worked in the school system, community agencies, and the justice system, giving her a deep and compassionate understanding of how trauma affects individuals and the community. She serves on the National Association of Social Workers and Illinois Chapter Board as the at-large representative. Guerrero is also an elected official serving her third term as a Joliet Township High School Board member.  The “Healing Place was created to be a safe and empowering space where children, families, and organizations can better understand the impact of trauma and build the tools needed to move forward with compassion, strength, and Esperanza,” said Guerrero. The Healing Place work centers around four core areas:

  • Therapy – Trauma-focused care for children, teens, and adults.
  • Speaking Engagements – Educating communities and professionals about trauma and resilience.
  • Clinical Supervision – Pre- and post-licensure supervision and professional consultation.

Consulting – Supporting organizations in becoming trauma-informed and responsive to the needs of those they serve.
