She ROCKS It celebrated women who ROCK in Chicagoland

She ROCKS It, located in Crest Hill, IL, started in 2017 by founder Joyce Dawkins. Dawkins said she created the organization to honor and empower women. “How dare the Supreme Court send women back 100 years,” she said. “I am an African-America woman in my 60s and this was something I never thought I would see in my lifetime. This was a protection for women, and it is our right to choose whether we want to carry a baby to term or no. We as women deserve to make decisions about our bodies. It will be sad if my daughter has fewer rights than I did growing up.”

Dr. Keith Wood, at Bolingbrook named Illinois Middle School Principal of the Year

“Dr. Wood is supportive of his students, staff and community,” said Dr. Jason Pascavage, principal of Bolingbrook High School. “Dr. Wood plays a key role in students receiving supplies, tutoring and social emotional learning through the local H2O, which is a local non-profit that supports students. Keith has been an integral part of our Principal leadership team and is one of the original administrators that brought our most successful reading and writing interventions to the district.”
