She ROCKS It, located in Crest Hill, IL, started in 2017 by founder Joyce Dawkins. Dawkins said she created the organization to honor and empower women. She ROCKS It supports and acknowledges the success of women, promotes lifelong learning, supports non-profit organizations that help women live beyond their past and focus on rebuilding their future, promotes relationship-building among women, networking, partnership, and volunteering.

This was a protection for women, and it is our right to choose whether we want to carry a baby to term or no. We as women deserve to make decisions about our bodies. It will be sad if my daughter has fewer rights than I did growing up.”

Local community conflicted over gaming approval for businesses
While the City of Joliet has establishments that allow gaming, residents in nearby Bolingbrook last year voted against a referendum asking if they supported businesses having video gambling.

“Dr. Wood is supportive of his students, staff and community,” said Dr. Jason Pascavage, principal of Bolingbrook High School. “Dr. Wood plays a key role in students receiving supplies, tutoring and social emotional learning through the local H2O, which is a local non-profit that supports students. Keith has been an integral part of our Principal leadership team and is one of the original administrators that brought our most successful reading and writing interventions to the district.”
