A wine with international flair from the heart of Italy

From Trinchero Family Estates comes Cotarella Sodale Merlot from the Lazio region of central Italy. It is a beautiful wine with an international flair that comes from the heart of Italy.

Made entirely from the international variety Merlot, the wine is a nearly perfect rendition of the grape, yet it presents itself at a very moderate price. Perhaps because it is a little recognized name in the universe of wines, Lazio has garnered little attention. However, history shows otherwise. Lazio is rich in multi-millennial heritage. It was once at the very center of Etruscan civilization as part of the Holy Roman Empire, which became the Papal States and eventually the Italian Republic. Located in the central peninsula section of Italy, it is that country’s second most populated region with the second largest regional economy. The capital of Lazio is Rome, which is also the capital and largest city of Italy.

Lazio shares its borders with Italy’s most famous wine growing regions, Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Abruzzo, and Campania, yet its name is rarely mentioned outside of Italy.

Consider your self-fortunate, as this excellent wine is readily available and affordable. Lazio borders Italy’s most famous wine growing regions, Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Abruzzo, and Campania, yet its name is rarely mentioned outside of Italy.

Consider yourself fortunate, as this excellent wine is readily available and affordable. Vibrant notes of bright red cherries dance on the nose and the palate as hints of vanilla nurture a soft sensation on the tongue giving way to a harmonious finish.

Merlot is an international grape with origins in France; Planted in volcanic soils near the border of Umbria, the wine is a perfect example of the varietal. Characterized by dark fruit flavors, it is created from grapes that are hand harvested before being allowed to macerate on the skins for 12 days before fermentation in stainless steel. Further maturation occurs in both new and neutral barrels of varying sizes for 9 months before an additional 12 months of aging in the bottle before release. The wine has all the earmarks of a top-shelf Merlot.

Italians love their wine with food and Sodale is a terrific companion with a variety of dishes from informal Saturday pizza nights to weekend Barbecues and Sunday Brunch. Your favorite pasta sauce awaits its marquee position opposite this stellar wine.

Cotarella Sodale is a perfect everyday wine. Harmonious and value-priced, it is a great value that sits at the pinnacle of quality.

Drink Responsibly.
