Michael Peterson is District 202’s newest Director of Transportation.

The District 202 Board of Education approved hiring Peterson at its regular meeting on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

He is replacing Sandy Bressers who is retiring. He will start on March 18, 2024.

Peterson has more than a decade of experience in the student transportation field.

He most recently served as the general manager for Durham School Services since January 2019.

Peterson previously worked in management for First Student, Inc., for six years.

He also worked as a property manager and was in the Navy and Navy Reserves.

District 202’s reputation of providing an excellent education to students made joining the district an easy decision, Peterson said.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of a great team, with one goal in mind, and that is to provide the best education we can to the students and families of District 202,” he said.

Board of Education President Rod Westfall said during the meeting that Peterson is a leader in the transportation field and was the top choice of the interviewing committee.
