Every June, Special Olympics Illinois hosts their big event at Illinois State University (ISU). Much like the traditional Olympics, torches used to light the cauldron to start the games. Beginning the Monday before, officers from different parts of the state run multiple torches down to ISU in a relay race to get the torch there for the Friday ceremony.

Lockport Restaurant Week is back in full swing

If approved by the majority of voters, money from the bond issue will be used to replace two junior schools, along with adding four classrooms and a multi-purpose room to Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. Since the project has been on Joliet’s radar since 2008 as the city has been trying to find an appropriate development project for the large site, only Regal Cinema in 2019 has committed to opening a theater on premises.
