Technological advances, a silver lining for schools

Throughout the nation and here at home, school districts had to turn to the virtual world to bring classrooms to students during the COVID pandemic that raged on for more than 15 months. That meant students had to log in to computers and iPads from home to receive lessons from their teachers. It took some time to get the technology working properly for most school districts and some did not do so well. Much of the success was tied to how advanced each district was technologically and, unfortunately, whether the students could afford the technology, which involved internet access and a device.

Mobile Workforce Center October schedule released

The Will County Mobile Workforce Center is a state-of-the-art vehicle that travels across the county to offer residents assistance with their career searches. The mobile workforce center is equipped with 11 computer station and Internet access. Resume and career search assistance using online listings, including jobs4people.org and Illinois workNet, are also available on the mobile unit.

IN MEMORIAM: Baseball Icon Henry ‘Hank’ Aaron Dies at 86

NNPA NEWSWIRE — Aaron’s biography at the Baseball Hall of Fame, where he earned induction in 1982, noted that he was “a consistent producer both at the plate and in the field, reaching the .300 mark in batting 14 times, 30 home runs 15 times, 90 RBI 16 times and captured three Gold Glove Awards enroute to 25 All-Star Game selections.”
