COMMENTARY: Black Lives Matter and The Color of Your Skin

NNPA NEWSWIRE _ History in America has demonstrated that White citizens will make war, and justifying horrific atrocities against Black people, including lynching. Even after slavery was abolished, there was still lynching, and many today believe police brutality is still connected to the history of lynching. There were 3436 people lynched from 1889 to 1932, and the majority was Black people, according to publisher Ida Wells.

COMMENTARY: Always Right to Fight!

NNPA NEWSWIRE — After the horrific murders of some of our Asian sisters in Georgia, the press started asking whether or not the Black community would align with them to stop the senseless racist attacks against them spurred on by Trump and his merry band of White Supremacists. It was devastating to me to read many of the social media responses and sickening to hear them among friends and family.

CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY: The St. Augustine Four is a Vital Part of Black History

NNPA NEWSWIRE — It was while in St. Augustine that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., urged President Lyndon B. Johnson to send federal troops to protect peaceful protestors, and to restore order. The Ku Klux Klan had staged violent nighttime rides, including severely burning Robert Hayling, a Black dentist, and civil rights leader, during one of their infamous rallies. The homes of Black families were torched, their cars firebombed by white supremacists. Police used dogs, hot sticks, and Billy clubs to attack peaceful Black protestors.
