Pilot Program Lets Homeowners Build Granny Flats, Boosting Affordability

A pilot program allowing accessory dwelling units (ADUs) in some areas of Chicago has shown promising results, providing a limited but effective release valve for the city’s affordable housing crisis, but the burst of construction seen so far is a pittance compared to the more than 100,000 affordable units’ experts say it would take to satisfy demand.
