Wine of the Week: An armchair visit to Napa’s Stags Leap wine district

Stag's Leap District in Napa Valley is California's most distinguished. Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, it contains America's most famous wineries. The names literally roll off the tongues of wine lovers around the world: Stag's Leap. Clos du Val, Shafer, among others. Its reputation was affirmed at the landmark Judgment of Paris in 1976 and has grown in stature ever since. At that competition, two up-start California wine producers triumphed over renowned bottlings from Bordeaux and Burgundy in a blind tasting judged by France's foremost wine experts.

Local church wins with Super Soul Bowl

On Sunday February 13, 2022, while thousands across the nation watched a historic Super Bowl between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams, members of Pastor Lonnie Posley’s New Canaanland Christian Church were celebrating Super Soul Bowl. A 28-year- old tradition for the church, it started when Posley realized that Super Bowl weekend could be an auspicious time to share their faith with the town of Joliet.

Forest Preserve’s ‘Buzz’ nature show expands to larger TV audience

"The Buzz," the Forest Preserve District of Will County's monthly nature show, is expanding to a wider audience. Starting in February, "Buzz" episodes will be featured on WJYS, a TV station that reaches more than 1 million people in Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The February episode will air on WJYS at 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, as well as noon Saturday, Feb. 26. The show's inclusion on WJYS is being funded by The Nature Foundation of Will County.
