Chicago Automobile Trade Association Names Jennifer Morand President of Association and General Manager of the Chicago Auto Show

The Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA) announced in a press release that Jennifer Morand was named co-CEO of the 500-member dealer association. She joins David Sloan in the top job as they together lead the organization that represents the Chicago area’s franchised, new-car dealers and produces the annual Chicago Auto Show. Effective March 1, Morand will officially transition to the role of President of the CATA and General Manager of the Chicago Auto Show.

Governor JB Pritzker and Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton filed over 6,000 petitions with signatures from voters in all 102 counties across the state to formally secure their spot on the ballot on Monday. Governor Pritzker and Lt. Governor Stratton celebrated the broad coalition of support they’ve built with House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch, Illinois AFL-CIO President Tim Drea, and supporters from every corner of Illinois.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict Continues to Cause Pain at the Pump

Last week, the International Energy Agency (IEA) announced a coordinated release of crude oil from its 31 member countries’ strategic reserves, including the U.S., Germany, Canada, South Korea, and Mexico, to help counter the impact of rising crude prices. On Friday, IEA said member states committed to releasing a total of 61.7 million bbl from their strategic reserves to reassure markets roiled by the fallout from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Daylight savings time: Residents reminded to change clocks, change smoke alarm batteries this weekend

The National Fire Protection Association reports that 81% of battery-operated smoke alarms which failed to operate in home fires had missing, disconnected, or dead batteries. To combat these alarming statistics, the IFSA worked with the Illinois General Assembly to update a law to address this horrific problem, by requiring residents to replace their old smoke alarms with the type that has a long-term, 10-year sealed battery by the end of this year. This would apply to residents that are still using alarms with removable batteries or alarms that are not hardwired.
